Pietro Bombonato

Staff lawyer

Pietro is an Italian lawyer. He holds a law degree from the Università degli Studi di Milano and an LLM in international law (cum laude) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies of Geneva, where he focused his researches on the interactions between human rights and investment law and on the implementation of international treaties into the European Union legal system.

Prior to joining Volterra Fietta, Pietro was part of the litigation and arbitration team of a global law firm in Milan, where he advised clients in the energy, fashion, sports, banking, insurance and IT sectors, both before domestic tribunals and in international arbitral proceedings (mainly under the UNCITRAL and the LCIA rules). He was also involved in researching investment-related issues under Bilateral Investment Treaties and under the Energy Charter Treaty. Furthermore, in his capacity as coordinator of the pro bono practice, he advised clients on human rights issues and engaged in asylum-seeker litigation.
