Maldives becomes 118th State to join the International Criminal Court
On 21 September 2011, the government of the Maldives deposited its instrument of accession of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court with the United Nations. The Rome Statute will enter into force for the Maldives on 1 December 2011.

ICSID Announces New List of Designations to the Panels of Conciliators and Arbitrators
On 15 September 2011, Mr. Robert Zoellick, President of the World Bank and Chairman of the Administrative Council of ICSID, announced a new list of designations to the ICSID Panels of conciliators and arbitrators. Ten members of each Panel were appointed for renewable six-year terms and may be chosen by disputing parties or by the Centre in proceedings at ICSID.

New International Chamber of Commerce Rules of Arbitration launched
On 12 September 2011, the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) published its revised Rules of Arbitration. The Rules were last revised in 1998 and have been updated to take into account recent developments. The Rules will come into effect from January 2012.

Report on Flotilla Incident Published
On 2 September 2011, the Report of the Secretary General’s Panel of Inquiry, chaired by Sir Geoffrey Palmer, published its report on the incident which took place on 31 May 2010 when Israeli Defense Forces boarded and took over six vessels which were attempting to breach the naval blockade in place around the Gaza Strip.

Rwanda becomes Member State of Permanent Court of Arbitration
On 28 June 2011, Rwanda became the 112th Member State of the Permanent Court of Arbitration based in The Hague.

Robert Volterra has received the Corporate International Magazine 2011 Global Award for Arbitration Lawyer of the Year in the UK.

On 12 August 2011, the Prime Minister of Malaysia┬┤s office appointed Robert Volterra to the Advisory Board of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration.
