Alessandro Rollo


Alessandro is an Italian lawyer.  He holds a law degree from the Università degli studi Roma Tre in Rome, Italy and an LLM in international law from the University of Cambridge.  He also studied international investment law and negotiation at the Universitat de Barcelona and financial law at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Alessandro advises private entities and sovereign States on contentious and non-contentious public international law and international dispute resolution issues.  His contentious experience includes representing States in high-profile ICSID arbitration proceedings; advising States in Africa and the Middle East in proceedings before the International Court of Justice; advising private entities in international commercial arbitration proceedings and in proceedings to enforce an arbitral award against a sovereign State in England and Wales; and advising a State in connection with domestic judicial proceedings on sovereign immunity.  His non-contentious experience includes advising private entities on territorial issues and on the protection of foreign investments.

Prior to joining Volterra Fietta, Alessandro worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, covering global cooperation against cybercrime and counter-terrorism.  He also worked for a US global law firm, where he advised clients on international commercial arbitration and proceedings before Italian courts.  Before that, he worked at the Office of International Affairs of the US Department of Justice, where he was involved in international judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
