Alessandro Rollo


Alessandro is an Italian lawyer.  He holds a law degree from the Università degli studi Roma Tre in Rome, Italy and an LLM in international law from the University of Cambridge.  He also studied international investment law and negotiation at the Universitat de Barcelona and financial law at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Alessandro advises private entities and sovereign States on contentious and non-contentious public international law and international dispute resolution issues.  Recent highlights of his practice include advising a State on public international law issues related to sovereign immunity in connection with legal proceedings before the domestic courts of another State.  Alessandro has also advised two sovereign States in ICSID arbitration proceedings and a multinational company on sovereign immunity in relation to the enforcement of an arbitral award against a sovereign State in the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining Volterra Fietta, Alessandro worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, covering global cooperation against cybercrime and counter-terrorism.  He also worked for a US global law firm, where he advised clients on international commercial arbitration and proceedings before Italian courts.  Before that, he worked at the Office of International Affairs of the US Department of Justice, where he was involved in international judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
