Maanya Tandon

Maanya is a New Zealand-qualified lawyer. Prior to joining Volterra Fietta, Maanya was an international law adviser at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.  There, she advised on a wide range of public international law issues, including engagement with multilateral institutions. She previously worked at the New Zealand Defence Force during the New Zealand Government’s inquiry into allegations of war crimes and breaches of international law, as well as at New Zealand’s Crown Law Office. She has worked as a research assistant on international and public law issues, including at the New Zealand Centre for Human Rights Law, Policy and Practice. She also interned at the Permanent Mission of New Zealand to the United Nations in New York.  Maanya undertook a traineeship at a magic circle law firm.

Maanya holds a L.L.B. degree from the University of Auckland.  She also holds a Master of Laws from New York University (NYU), where she was a Lloyd N. Cutler Fellow in International Law, received an International Law and Human Rights (ILHR) Fellowship placement at the UN International Law Commission, and was a member of NYU’s International Organisations Clinic.
